probably French or Belgian and circa 1851, with octagonal 5in. barrel, bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the top-strap, borderline and vine-leaf engraved solid frame with attached nipple-shields, running vine engraved cylinder, spurless hammer, guarded trigger and smooth walnut grip with cap-pot concealed in the pommel
